Ramesh Chopde is a highly qualified politician, former BJP corporator and a close aid of Ex Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadanvis. Through his politics, he focuses more on social and developmental work. He believes in Nitin Gadkari’s philosophy of “Politics of development”. Born with leadership qualities, Chopde has a very soft heart with a concern for needy and deprived people. With a political and social experience of more than three decades he has acquired excellent organizational skills. With the inspiration of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj he believes in youth power. He believes in strengthening youth and making them competent for future so that the they become job creators and not seekers.

Born on 10th of May 1966 Chopde completed all his education from Nagpur itself. But his thirst for knowledge never let him sit silently. Till date he has completed PG courses in six different subjects, also has an additional Law degree and plans to learn more in the future too. He has been a dedicated party worker who later on rose to be a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). With born leadership qualities he was elected in the student council in his college days in early 80s. There he came on contact with the Senior BJP leader Sanjay Joshi, who later on went on to become his mentor too. It was due to Chopde’s leadership qualities that, in 1985 Mr. Joshi brought him into active politics and introduced him to the youth wing of the party. Ever since, he has been a BJP loyalist, which he says he will be till his last breath.

In 1997, he contested and won NMC elections. When he became a corporator, his ward was in a sorry state of affairs. The citizens had to walk miles for the drinking water. Under the able leadership of the then Mayor Devendra Fadnavis he implemented “Har Ghar Nal” campaign in his areas. The police line Takli area was in a pathetic condition too. He provided all sorts of civic amenities in these police quarters. This area didn’t have well built roads. The Anandnagar to Police line Takli road was constructed in his tenure. During his tenure he did many remarkable civic work. The quality of the work was so high that they are still up in running without causing much of maintenance. After that, unfortunately he and his wife had to face defeats in elections. All the three times that he lost, every time he defeated with a very close margin of less of 100 votes. However, these defeats never pulled him back from the social work that he was doing. He sights the famous examples of Abraham Lincoln and says he will keep on working for the party and society. He kept his faith in party and it’s leadership. The party also showed its faith upon him by handing him over with different types of organizational responsibilities and he too proved himself worthy of them.

He is also, actively working towards welfare of OBCs. He has been a staunch supporter of OBC reservations. Recently, due to some reasons OBC reservations were called off by Supreme court of India. As the city president of BJP’s OBC Morcha, he has been organizing BJP’s all the agitations, Morchas, Chakka jam, Dharne Pradarshan against the state government and its inability to provide elective reservations to OBCs. Apart from this, he is also associated with the Tirale Kunbi Seva Mandal. As a city president of the same organization he has been a key member behind many events of the organization that aim on uniting the community, inspiring, guiding and felicitating the youth of the community. Apart from his social and political life Chopde manages to take out time for himself and his family. An avid reader and Golfer, Chopde is also fond of traveling with his family.

Social responsibilities during Covid-19
Covid-19 pandemic affected the entire world. In the beginning it created a havoc and then Lock-down forced lacks to sleep hungry and thousands to travel back to their native places. Under his leadership a team of BJP workers in the city got engaged in providing food to the needy people. They also helped the workers who were travelling back to their native places.

Covid-19 Vaccination
Vaccination is the only way out of the Covid-19 pandemic. He gave his own lawn’s space to the NMC to create a Covid-19 Vaccination facility. The vaccination center that was active for more than six months has benefitted thousands of citizens from West Nagpur.

Family: Father Shyamrao Tukaram Chopde was a progressive farmer. Mother Taibai was a house wife. Family had a business of farming and livestock.

Got married to Dr Vaishali Chopde in 2000. She is working as a assistant professor at Women’s college of Art and Commerce. Children- Devyani and Vishwajeet.

Social life

City president of Tirale Kunabi Seva Mandal. Constructed Samaj Bhavan for the community. Known for organizing the first Vadhu-Var Melawa for the Tirale Kunbi community in the entire state. The Melawa is still organized every year. Felicitates the meritorious students from the community. Organizes career guidance workshops for the youth of the community and youth at large. Blood donation and health-checkup camps are organized regularly. Organizes different types of Conferences for OBC’s and Kunbi community.
